Selectivity for Bioanalytical LC Methods: A Practical Approach to Column Selection
This session will cover why stationary-phase selectivity is a critical starting point for small-molecule bioanalytical LC and LC-MS method development, and how analyte properties and bio-sample matrix challenges influence reversed-phase column selection. It will show how to use a complementary column-screening set to compare C18 and alternative selectivities efficiently, and how chromatographic selectivity, retention, peak shape, and separation from matrix components support reproducible and robust quantitative and qualitative analysis. It will also address practical troubleshooting considerations for when an initial column does not provide adequate retention, resolution, or peak shape.
