Phenomenex Honored for Contributions to Local Community
Torrance, CA (April 8, 2009) – Phenomenex Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of separation science consumables, was recognized by the City of Torrance for being a key contributor to the growth and prosperity of the city. The Torrance Advantage Awards honor local companies that create jobs, attract skilled workers, patronize local small businesses and contribute to the community through special events and charitable giving.
The award was presented at a special reception attended by local CEOs, dignitaries and community leaders, such as executives from local companies such as Torrance Memorial Hospital and Toyota Motor Corporation, among others. Torrance Mayor Frank Scotto presented Phenomenex with the “People to People” award recognizing excellence in enhancing employment opportunities in Torrance and in investing in their existing workforce through training, benefits and motivational programs.
Job opportunities, training programs and sustained growth were named among the reasons Phenomenex was selected, but also the water balloon fights, golf cart races and marching band appearances that create a fun and distinctive culture that motivates employees.
Upon accepting the award, President and CEO Mr. Mahjoor credited Phenomenex’s employees. “I am privileged to have the best employees, not only in Torrance, but in the world.
