Phenomenex Launches Haiti Relief Campaign

Torrance, CA (February 12, 2010) - Phenomenex Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of separation science consumables, announced today that its employees have launched a 2010 campaign to raise funds and organize volunteer activities to support earthquake survivors in Haiti. The “Show Your Heart for Haiti” campaign is part of the company’s overall commitment to philanthropy.

Phenomenex organizers sponsored a kick-off breakfast this week to promote this year-long humanitarian mission and inspire action. For each employee who attended the breakfast to learn more about the program, Phenomenex management pledged to provide 60 meals to earthquake survivors. More than 200 employees came to show their support, translating to an initial commitment to provide 12,000 meals. The relief will be distributed through Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit organization that has already sent over six million meals to Haiti since the disaster.

“Our hearts go out to those affected by the Haiti earthquake, and we believe that individual philanthropic actions can create massive change,” said Fasha Mahjoor, president and CEO of Phenomenex. “We were immediately moved to develop an action plan, in keeping with Phenomenex’s mission to support humanity. It’s exciting to see so many people taking time out of their day to gather in meaningful ways for a critically important cause.”

To continue the momentum of this event, Phenomenex is sending a group of 50 employees to Costa Mesa on February 16th to help the Feed My Starving Children organization pack over 200,000 meals for Haiti.

The “Show Your Heart for Haiti” campaign will continue with ongoing events hosted by each department at Phenomenex. Currently, sales team “cupids” are selling “Valentines Roses for Haiti”, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to relief. Upcoming fundraisers include a movie night and yard sale planned by the research & development department; luncheons planned by the purchasing and accounting departments; and a bingo night for employees, families and friends held by the marketing department. Many other activities are scheduled throughout the year to show continued support for Haiti.

All proceeds from these events will be donated to the American Red Cross and Feed My Starving Children organizations.
