AB SCIEX and Phenomenex mobile laboratory arrives in Torrance, CA to address Food Safety and give high school students a better understanding of the separation sciences

The Mass-tastic tour continues its journey throughout North America demonstrating next-generation LC/MS/MS workflow.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. and TORRANCE, Calif. – April 03, 2012 – Phenomenex and AB SCIEX’s MASS-tastic Voyage, a fifty-foot long LC/MS/MS laboratory-on-wheels, is coming to Torrance, CA as part of a progressive North American tour to raise awareness about improving food safety. The state-of-the-art mobile laboratory run by AB SCIEX and Phenomenex, two scientific technology leaders, will be open all day on Friday, April 06 at the Phenomenex headquarters office.

Scientists from food testing labs, government agencies, universities, environmental labs and other types of laboratories in the Los Angeles and vicinity areas are expected to attend. As part of an ongoing commitment to educate young scientists, the MASS-tastic Voyage will also be open for local high-school students who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the separation sciences.

In addition to live LC/MS/MS demonstrations in the mobile lab, this stop will also include a tour of the Phenomenex headquarter office and a seminar on General Method Development for LC/MS/MS.

WHO: Local high school students with an interest in the science field and scientists of all levels of expertise who are interested in learning about advanced technologies used in food & environmental safety testing, ranging from identifying contaminated orange juice and pesticides in food products to environmental pollutants and unsafe drinking water, and spanning many other analytical challenges that affect human and animal health

WHY: Raise awareness about the need to significantly improve food safety testing by utilizing the latest analytical techniques and to give high school students a better understating of separation sciences
