Phenomenex and The Analytical Scientist Introduce International Humanity in Science Award
Torrance, CA (October 2, 2014) – The Humanity in Science Award discovers and celebrates an outstanding breakthrough in analytical science that has truly improved lives. Launched by Phenomenex and The Analytical Scientist, the international award acknowledges the importance of team collaboration in the development of innovation, recognizing cross-institute, cross-company, and cross-border collaborations in addition to the work of one or two individuals. The winning entry will receive $25,000 in prize money.
Analytical science has an enormous impact on our lives, serving to safeguard our food, environment, and medicines and enabling breakthroughs in other scientific disciplines; yet it does not always receive the same recognition and attention awarded to other scientific fields. This new award shines a spotlight on these scientists and celebrates their contributions to the betterment of humankind.
How to Enter
Submit an informal 1,000-word essay describing the research and its impact on humanity, along with a letter of recommendation from a senior professional in the field. The research must have been performed during the previous three years and utilized chromatography in at least one aspect (which may include early development).

The PrizeThe grand prize winner will receive:
- $25,000 in prize money – a personal gift that can be spent in any way
- publication of the work in The Analytical Scientist
- a five year subscription to The Analytical Scientist
- an all-expenses paid trip (for up to three representatives in the case of a large team) to Pittcon 2015 in New Orleans to receive the award, followed by a tour of Phenomenex headquarters in Torrance, California
